hola again from CR

hola!

Cam and I are still in Costa Rica - and it's super hot and humid - which is a nice change after all the cold weather in the USA.

I forgot to put aeroguard on this morning and I've been eaten alive by mosquitoes (which incidentally is said the same way in Spanish - I wonder why ; ) ) - so I am silently praying that I don't get dengue fever - I remember Ben talling me how god-awful it is!

When we first arrived here everything was a little confusing - all the ticos were trying to drag us into their non-official cabs and such - but we worked it out - and got out of the main town of San Jose.

We are now in Jaco - a reallly dirty touristy area and tommorow we are catching a boat to Montezuma - which will take us to the "Whitsudays of CR!" > this afternoon we will hit the beach - though it is a volcanic beach and full of grey sand - which was a bit of a shock to us spoilt australians :)

We haven't yet found a macdonalds here - so instead Camo has been testing out all of the coca cola he can find - so far it all tastes much the same as home.
We had a really good sleep last night - probably the best since we've been away - something like 12 hrs. But after all of that driving and flying we really needed it.

Wish we could show you guys some of our photos - but we haven't yet made it to a computer with USB- hopefully we will soon. The views at Bryce canyon were amazing! - all these snow capped mountains and rock valleys - it was super cool.

Anyways I might be off - catch up with you all soon.

2300 miles

well - we have arrived safe and sound in costa rica

all in all the USA roadtrip ended up being 2300 miles long - which is about 4000km!
(in 10 days!!)
we have mastered driving on the RHS of the road - and I've even worked out how to read a map.

Lots has happened since we were in yosemite - we drove through the death valley (lots of sand and mounds of dirt) and on into VEGAS!!!

camo had a go at some blackjack tables and i played a few slots - we did the walk of the strip at night and cam took enough photos to last a lifetime.

we also took a day trip to the bryce canyon (which is like saying hell we're in sydney let's take a day trip to coffs harbour!) and arrived to find that our hats and sunscreen were useless in the snow! - it was ssoooo cold - but we survived and now after 24 crazy hours of driving from vegas to LA - seeing Adam and Jess in Anaheim and flying here to CR we are both pretty hot and tired.

will leave it there for now - talk to you all soon

hummers and gas

ok - the thing that has hit us the most is the carzy language they sspeak here - no not english - american!!!

petrol is gas -
hire car is rental car
supermarket is grocery store
mobile is cell phone

and these people can't even make the connection - you have to like mime what you're talking about for them to get it!! hehe!
plus there are the cars - they are huge!! so huge it is nuts!
everyone has an SUV - and if not - an army tank hummer!

honestly - our hire car is a "compact" - but it's a four door sedan!

we cannot believe it!

but mostly the differenecs are fun - and a challenge - although one thing is the same - good old maccas - which camo has been testing for you all in each and every place we visit - so afr the best experience was in LA - a double cheesebureghr and a xxlarge coke for

$1.60!!!!

anyways must run again

love you all

howdy yall

ok this will be short - just typed up a mage long entry only to have the damn interbnet kiosk crash on me

camo and i are having an awesome time here in the US

we are finally used to the crazy US freeways and have worked out the driving on the RHS of the road thimng "passenger to curb"

we've been to LA - camo found some aussies about 10 seconds after we arived and pissed it up in the only british pub in santa monica - did the hollywood blvd thing - drove down sunset blvd - checked out the leafy suburb of beverly hills - nice
we drove to san fran all in one day (about 500 miles) and then chilled that night

next day we checked out alcatraz and caught a cable car - i tried sopping but camo asn't too keenand now we're in yosemite - did a trek today that half killed both of us - up a mountain 7000 ft above sea level - and now we're preparing to jet off to death valley

will have to run as this thing may crash again
love to you all- more soon
